Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet-Rich Plasma is the liquid gold in the Aesthetic and Musculaskeletal world. PRP is a blood derivative processed from the client’s own blood. The Platelets are rich in proteins called growth factors. When the Platelets are injected into the tissue, these growth factors and stimulating factors are central to the body’s ability to heal and repair. The immediate release of these proteins also stimulate and encourage the formation of blood clots, which are known to protect wounds.

Benefits

The benefits of PRP for skin tissue rejuvenation may include, an increase in collagen, extra cellular matrix reorganisation (ECM) and angiogenesis. With this, it may improve skin texture and tone. This procedure is continuing to increase in popularity with clients as it is autologous, natural stimulation of skin regeneration and a quick / simple procedure. The concept of PRP began in the 1970s and has been used in musculoskeletal and reconstructive medicine treatments since 1972. PRP is still relatively new in the Aesthetic world, over the past decade PRP has increased dramatically with use to improve facial aesthetics.

This will depend on the patients health, age and quality of their skin. Normally it is advised to have 2-3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart.

There is ongoing improvement to the treated skin for up to 12 months after each treatment. This is depending on the rate to how the clients collagen grows. It is suggested to have a follow-up treatment at 12 months but PRP will generally heal and renew the skin, taking years off the treated area, allowing the natural aging phase to occur from the renewed archived skin structure.
